My favorite Sunday morning ritual is to stay in bed in my underwear as long as possible.
There is so much to do in bed! Imogen wakes us up at 6:30 am and then it’s multiple coffees back to back, books, songs, stories, our bodies and hair tangled. I show her how I weave my small rugs with strips of old clothes; she shows me how to jump from pillow to pillow, to avoid falling into the hot lava parquet below.

After breakfast in bed, then we dance on the bed.
Maybe we take a quick trip over to the daybed but hurry back to bed headquarters. It’s like our special sacred island of much more than just sleep.
Imogen was born in the month of September on the floor, right at the bottom of the bed, in the threshold of our living spaces. This room is my most favorite place of all, where she became and where yesterday dims its light to make way for tomorrow’s warm proud rays, warming my skin through the window. She likes when I massage her feet, so I rub “mamas balm” on her little heels— such supple and tender skin

How long does it take for callouses to form? Its hard to even begin to think of all the places these toes will go, pressing into grass and sand and dirt and concrete and water, leaving a single pair, one of hundreds of millions of imprints before her and after. Next stop, the bathtub! for our explorations on bubble mountain with Mister Scuba and Rubber Ducky and all the soap you could ever dream of.
